What is treasure hunt ?

Treasure hunt is a game in which sagacity and thinking have a great role. You have to resolve some puzzles and enigmas created by an author. There are various enigmas: visual or textual, on every knowledge - geographic, mathematic, cryptographic,...
Obviously they can be a mix of these domains.

Generally, a treasure is buried in a public place. In this case, you have to find the place with enigmas and move to excavate it. A solution can be something like: go in that forest, find that specific monument, in that direction,...
Treasure can be an object (gold coins for example) or a countermark to prove that you have found the place in order to contact the author to have the real lot.
The only limit of treasure hunt organization is author's imagination: the game can be virtual (hunters have to give solution by mail), the game could need to move to excavate treasure or it can be like a rallye.

However, enigmas' resolution is more important than treasure's value.
